It’s well known that budget airlines often trick you into thinking you’re getting the best deal.
Whether it’s measuring your bag size to the nth of an inch or selling Diet Cokes on board north of $5, we’re happy to say this one is legit.

With some promotional fares under $50, travelers can score the deal of a lifetime to 3 of Latin America’s most captivating places with easy access to phenomenal beaches and timeless Colonial towns oozing charm and culture.
To their credit, Frontier has undergone an extensive makeover in the midst of Spirit’s on-and-off again financial struggles to become way more customer-friendly than the horror stories racking up on social media.
With legitimate cheap fares and an impressive growing route map, they have earned the Travel Off Path stamp of approval, so feel free to take advantage of their latest launch to 3 Central American stunners from 2 major U.S. airports.
Venture Off To Latin America’s Safest Country

Formerly owning the unsightly title of ‘murder capital’ of the world, El Salvador has pulled the ultimate switcheroo, now becoming Latin America’s safest country.
Undertaking sweeping clean-up efforts to rid their streets of violent criminals that have drawn major headlines for the controversial methods in doing so, there’s no doubt the results speak for themselves.
El Salvador is tiny yet mighty. Central America’s smallest country packs a punch with its diverse appeal, ranging from world-class surf spots, posh resorts, astounding volcanic hikes and delightful small towns to kick back and immerse in local life, such as Ataco (my favorite!).
Frontier is launching new flights to the capital city San Salvador (SAL) from 2 popular airports:

Dallas (DFW) –
- Service 2x/week
- Launched December 21st
- Promotional fare as low as $79 (purchase before 10:59 Central time, December 30th)
Houston (IAH) –
- Service 3x/week
- Launched December 19th
- Promotional fare as low as $59 (purchase before 10:59 Central time, December 30th)
Take A Quick Flight To Guatemala: Mexico’s Top Alternative
Guatemala is somehow still underrated. Being Mexico’s southeast neighbor, it’s just as convenient to fly here as it is to Cancun, Cabo, and the like. Plus, Guatemala is far less crowded.

While Guatemala’s beaches (both Pacific and Caribbean waters) may be understated, this gorgeous country is just as diverse as El Salvador and just as welcoming to visitors, perhaps no more than its postcard town of Antigua, just an hour from the Guatemala City airport.
Most travelers consider Guatemala City to be a dud and grab an Uber to Antigua instead, where you can base yourself in a vibrant, storied townscape and use it as a springboard to beautiful nature such as Pacaya Volcano, Lake Atitlán, and the surrounding highlands.
While tourists largely consider Guatemala safe, be aware of the U.S. Embassy’s latest alert.

Frontier is launching new flights to the capital city Guatemala City (GUA) from 2 popular airports:
Dallas (DFW) –
- Saturday service only
- Launched December 20th
- Promotional fare as low as $79 (purchase before 10:59 Central time December 30th)
Houston (IAH) –
- Service 3x/week
- Launched December 18th
- Promotional fare as low as $49 (purchase before 10:59 Central time December 30th)
Honduras: Central America’s Last Frontier

Let’s be honest — when you think of your next adventure beyond Mexico, you likely haven’t considered Honduras, a nation often depicted more as a humanitarian infomercial rather than a tourism board marketing campaign.
But let me fill you in on a secret — Honduras has been one of the most surprising highlights of my recent travels in the last year or so.
Despite security concerns, the majority of crime occurs where tourists wouldn’t step foot. I traveled solo, and locals couldn’t have been more friendly, helping me navigate bus routes and pointing out hidden gems I wouldn’t otherwise find.

While San Pedro Sula can be skipped as a base, little-known Caribbean treasure Tela is just an hour and. a half journey away, but I recommend checking out Copan Ruinas — a village etched in time boasting some of the world’s most well-preserved Mayan ruins and insanely affordable across the board.
Unlike El Salvador and Guatemala, Frontier is skipping Dallas and launching a new route from Houston (IAH) to San Pedro Sula (SAP):
- Saturday service only
- Launched December 20th
- Promotional fare as low as $49 (purchase before 10:59 Central time, December 30th)
