Tampa proper is one of the most under-hyped cities in Florida. When you think of vibrant culture in the Sunshine State, it’s likely the powerhouse of Miami comes to mind first.

Some might say rightfully so, but Tampa’s overlooked Ybor City Cuban culture shouldn’t be skipped.

That said, Tampa’s cluster of postcard beach towns, such as Clearwater and Siesta Key, may be jaw-droppers, but Costa Rica’s Pura Vida lifestyle goes unmatched.

Take it from someone who lives in San Diego and make trips to Tampa every year — it doesn’t matter if you live in a sunny vacation hotspot, you still get the itch for sun and sand elsewhere, especially when your beloved beaches are crawling with tourists.

Even with the warmth of clam chowder, Bostonians are usually shivering in their skivvies this time of year.

While we at Travel Off Path would never ask to see someone’s Google history, we imagine it’s not FeetFinder keeping them occupied as much as it is trying to plan the perfect sunny Caribbean escape.

With so many islands and bucket-list coastlines to choose from, it can feel like a daunting task knowing where to start.

The Cayman Islands are one of the most premier luxury destinations across the Caribbean’s vast array of vacation splurges, and Spirit has taken notice in hopes of reinventing their route map with some true bangers!

For the first time ever, Spirit will fly their unmissable yellow planes to Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in Grand Cayman, allowing travelers to save money on airfare only to spend it on posh digs upon arrival in this British overseas territory.

Home to breathtaking white-sand shores not even postcards can fully convey and ritzy resorts that tend to draw A-listers rather than, well, people like me, this can be viewed as a big risk for an airline already pulling out of popular airports, such as San Diego.

It’s happening!

Dallas is all set to open a third commercial airport in 2026. After much hoopla earlier this year, there were still some unanswered questions, such as who is going to be the first airline to anchor a small base?

Better yet, with 2 of America’s most popular airlines (Southwest and American) being Big D-based already, would any underdogs stand a chance going toe-to-toe with DFW and Love Field?

Well, at least one airline thinks so — and they’re betting on their (typically) cheap fares and quick rise to relevancy as surefire ways to get butts in seats.

It’s true, one of America’s newest airlines taking to U.S. skies is betting big on McKinney, Texas, a popular suburb for Friday Night Lights and down-home charm just half an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Dallas.

2026 seems to be the year where secondary airports are essentially a travel loophole to avoid long TSA lines and take advantage of uncommon routes — and it’s no different for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex as we near the turn of the calendar.

Why McKinney, TX Of All Places?

NBA star Joakim Noah was once famously quoted as saying, “Who even vacations in Cleveland?”, during a heated battle with LeBron’s Cavs.

Well, the same exact thing can be said for McKinney, Texas — not exactly a place you’ll be kicking back at a breezy poolside with a margarita in hand.

That said, McKinney definitely makes sense for Dallas’s third airport. For starters, DFW is one of the busiest airports in America (and one of my least favorites behind Newark) and could use a breather.

Love Field isn’t far behind either, as it’s grown exponentially, offering many more options than just Southwest, unlike prior years in operation.

But this is strictly a geographical play, not to hype McKinney as the next “Frisco” per se.

Speaking of Frisco, though, more North Texas residents and visiting tourists are flocking north to one of Texas’s fastest-growing cities.

As such, McKinney can alleviate traffic time to surrounding suburbs and Frisco, unlike if you were to land at DFW or Love Field and hop on one of the Metroplex’s many loop-the-loop freeways that always seem to have heavy traffic or never-ending construction projects.

McKinney (TKI) Rolls Out Red Carpet For Avelo Airlines

It appears Texans are more welcoming than Californians. When San Diego reopened Carlsbad’s airport just north of San Diego city limits, “Karens” came out in full force regarding noise and property values.

But McKinney is giving Avelo a warm Texas embrace, and the airline couldn’t be happier to lay roots…

CEO Andrew Levy was quoted as saying, “We are very excited to be the launch airline at TKI. We believe that our everyday low fares, convenient and reliable service, combined with an easy-to-use, small airport, is a combination the residents of McKinney and North Texas will enthusiastically embrace”.

While there are no official routes out of TKI just yet, here are 4 key takeaways travelers should know:

• Avelo Airlines signed a 5-year use and lease agreement, signaling this is not a trial run
• Avelo is the only airline to sign on to TKI thus far

Take A Quick Flight To Guatemala: Mexico’s Top Alternative

Guatemala is somehow still underrated. Being Mexico’s southeast neighbor, it’s just as convenient to fly here as it is to Cancun, Cabo, and the like. Plus, Guatemala is far less crowded.

While Guatemala’s beaches (both Pacific and Caribbean waters) may be understated, this gorgeous country is just as diverse as El Salvador and just as welcoming to visitors, perhaps no more than its postcard town of Antigua, just an hour from the Guatemala City airport.

Most travelers consider Guatemala City to be a dud and grab an Uber to Antigua instead, where you can base yourself in a vibrant, storied townscape and use it as a springboard to beautiful nature such as Pacaya Volcano, Lake Atitlán, and the surrounding highlands.

While tourists largely consider Guatemala safe, be aware of the U.S. Embassy’s latest alert.

Honduras: Central America’s Last Frontier

Let’s be honest — when you think of your next adventure beyond Mexico, you likely haven’t considered Honduras, a nation often depicted more as a humanitarian infomercial rather than a tourism board marketing campaign.

But let me fill you in on a secret — Honduras has been one of the most surprising highlights of my recent travels in the last year or so.

Despite security concerns, the majority of crime occurs where tourists wouldn’t step foot. I traveled solo, and locals couldn’t have been more friendly, helping me navigate bus routes and pointing out hidden gems I wouldn’t otherwise find.

While San Pedro Sula can be skipped as a base, little-known Caribbean treasure Tela is just an hour and. a half journey away, but I recommend checking out Copan Ruinas — a village etched in time boasting some of the world’s most well-preserved Mayan ruins and insanely affordable across the board.

Taking a page out of Iceland’s playbook, there’s one surging Asian city reviving a lesser-known airline under a new name, and it began operations last month.

Let’s hope for better results as both of Iceland’s WOW Air and Fly PLAY have now gone kaput despite jaw-dropping fares from major American hubs…

Parata Air (formerly Fly Gangwon) is one of the newest airlines in Asia’s aviation sector, along with Sun PhuQuoc Airways, except the former has bold plans to enter U.S. skies despite first commencing service less than a month ago.

As someone who has been eyeing an Asian adventure lately, I can tell you one thing is for certain — reaching Seoul from the U.S. mainland is expensive!

Unlike Japan’s Zipair, there’s no true low-cost option to fly direct to Seoul from any U.S. city — until now.

Thanks to Parata, a revamped Seoul-based budget airline, there will soon be 2 exciting new routes from major American cities for those of us ballin’ on a budget.

Parata Fills A Void: Cheap Flights To Asia’s Most Cultural City

Whether it be K-Pop concerts, downright sinful Korean barbecue, or the only country where 7-Eleven stores are cool, immersing in South Korea’s fascinating culture is truly a bucket-list experience no matter how you choose to do it.

Though getting anywhere in Korea (yes, the Southern one) tends to come with a hefty price tag when you book your flight.

That’s all set to change with the arrival of Parata Air.

“We will transcend the boundaries of full-service and low-cost carriers. We don’t plan to adhere to the existing distinction. We aim to be an airline that starts with the services and routes that are essential from the customer’s perspective, while providing an experience that stands out in the market.”

Here’s an example of why Parata is much needed in U.S. skies:

A round-trip flight from LAX for a weeklong trip to Seoul costs a minimum of $1200 for a connecting flight, and $1310 for a direct flight via Air Premia, which is surprisingly categorized as a Korean low-cost airline.

With an expected launch date to be set for Summer 2026, I chose the middle of summer for sample fares for comparison’s sake, and obviously, they’re pretty steep.

This is why Parata is destined to be a success, unlike the previous examples of Iceland’s failed budget carriers, since flagship Icelandair isn’t nearly as costly (once you land, it’s another story — yikes!).

2 Major U.S. Airports Set To Welcome Parata Air

Parata’s first venture into America will be a pair of our most connected airports, making the trip as seamless as possible.

According to SimpleFlying, Parata has already dotted their i’s and crossed t’s with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) with the intention of being granted a spot at the aforementioned Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as well as Las Vegas’s Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).

Both of these cities become a literal hot mess come summertime, so if it all goes according to plan, Seoul makes for the perfect escape from the desert heat into one of Asia’s most sought-after cities.

Just know these plans are not finalized. Currently, Parata Air only has 4 planes to their name, and these planned U.S. routes would take place on a spacious Airbus A330-200 when (*knock on wood*) it comes to fruition.

Why Seoul Has Become A Powerhouse Must-Visit Destination

Seoul is a name we all know, but over recent years, it’s become a tourism powerhouse.

Largely influenced by pop culture with the raging success of Squid Games and the ever-growing K-Pop phenomenon, not to mention even the tiniest of map-dot towns across the U.S. opening Korean BBQ eateries, Seoul has earned a seat at the table with Tokyo, Hong Kong, and the likes.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Seoul has a global reputation for being safe at all hours. Whether you’re hankering for some late-night street grub or want to belt out your favorite K-pop tune at a karaoke hole-in-the-wall, you don’t have to keep your head on a swivel like other mega metropolises.

It’s also a city where modern tech meets ancient palaces. Arguably the most sightly photo op is the 600-year-old Gyeongbokgung Palace, an absolute must-visit.

The only thing Seoul hasn’t had going for it is cheap flights, but now Parata has a chance to change that. Once here, the city is incredibly simple to get around, and you won’t break the bank unless you splurge on a 5-star hotel.

While there have been rumors that budget airlines will cease to exist in the near future, as Southwest removed its signature ‘bags fly free’ policy and Spirit continues to battle bankruptcy aftermath, there are a select few hanging around, maxing out whatever window remains.

Allegiant, Breeze, little-known Avelo, and perhaps most notable, Frontier, continue leading the charge of this niche industry that certainly isn’t without its challenges.

From policing allowable bag sizes to the nth of a millimeter, and well-documented horror stories of leaving passengers stranded with no backup flights on the docket, some travelers fork over triple or more in airfare to avoid these common risks associated with budget carriers.

And who can blame them? We at Travel Off Path know the feeling all too well, falling victim to both instances…

But hey, money talks. Everyone loves saving skrilla, right?

To do just that, sometimes you gotta bite the bullet, squeeze into the middle seat like a sardine, and pray to all the gods for a seamless trip, which most are a success — it’s just aforementioned horror stories often garner more attention than the majority of flights going according to plan.

Fly Cheap To Cancun From These 2 U.S. Cities

Calling all Michiganders and Marylanders! Christmas is coming early for you this year.

4 days before you’re forced to down Gam Gam’s “world famous” cranberry sauce with a smile, now may be the perfect excuse to escape family gatherings and the frigid weather altogether.

Both Detroit and Baltimore are slated to welcome 2 new flights to Cancun, Mexico’s number one vacation destination and Americans’ favorite international getaway.

With posh all-inclusive resorts, postcard turquoise shores, and buzzing nightlife from hotel pool parties to downtown shenanigans, sunny Cancun is always an excused absence from holiday get-togethers, right?

Well, if not, it’s certainly understandable to swap shoveling driveways to sippin’ poolside margs.

The inaugural flights will launch from each of the participating cities’ airports (DTW and BWI) on November 22, 2025, with weekly service and promotional fares starting at $89 on Frontier’s website or app.

Yee-Haw! 3 New International Flights To Launch From Houston

If your passport is looking bleak or Cancun feels too American-ized to be worthy of a stamp, Houston will soon welcome 3 new direct flights to a trio of unbelievably beautiful and adventurous South American destinations.

Allow me to be your tour guide as I’ve had the pleasure of visiting each and every one in recent years. Kindly call me Captain Sam, so that I can say “I’m the Captain now”.

First up is Guatemala City, Guatemala.

We all know this really means Antigua, a nearby vibrant colonial town that may be small in size but casts a large shadow over the metropolis of Guatemala City in terms of tourism.

Here, you’ll find the source of my coffee addiction. There are ample coffee farms to visit and even more cafes intertwined in the charming cobbled townscape of markets, boutique shops and hotels, and astounding nature on the outskirts of town.

Houston (IAH) will welcome a new flight to GUA 3 times per week beginning December 18, 2025, so you won’t be able to skimp out on Thanksgiving dinner with the fam for this one.

Next up is San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

I stayed at the luxe Hilton Princess before trekking across the country to one of the most underrated Latin American sites to immerse myself in a spectacular world of well-preserved Maya ruins.

Copan Ruinas is just as delightful (if not more) and undoubtedly more authentic as aforementioned Antigua. Read all about my trip here — it’s one of my favorite solo trips I’ve ever been on.

Prices were insanely affordable and Hondurans couldn’t have been more welcoming — a far cry from their country’s sketchy reputation.

If you give this highly underrated country a chance, check out their Caribbean slice of paradise Tela, only an hour or so bus ride from San Pedro Sula.

Last, but not least, is San Salvador, El Salvador.

While El Salvador has undergone a mass transformation since I last visited in 2020, all the must-visit sites remain the same.

The only difference is that the country is no longer considered one of the most dangerous countries in the world, and it’s okay if you forgot to pack your wallet, as El Salvador now widely accepts Bitcoin (though no longer legal tender).

While the capital city of San Salvador is fun for a couple of days, the real draw of this tiny nation is seemingly boundless nature, such as the Santa Ana Volcano and Cerro Verde National Park, to name a couple.

My favorite place was Ataco, a map-dot colonial town with sensational cuisine, better coffee, and heartwarming locals happy to welcome you to their beloved hometown.

Houston (IAH) will welcome new flights to San Salvador with 3 flights per week beginning December 19, 2025.

Summer sees a surge in beach vacations, but come fall and winter, there’s no comparison to lounging seaside along sun-drenched shores while much of the country bundles up in extra layers.

It’s no secret that Florida is a year-round destination. Allegiant is living up to their sunny logo by launching new flights to 3 spectacular beaches in the Sunshine State, and another in a neighboring state with equally gorgeous beach getaways.

Is Allegiant still hyping up their namesake resort in Punta Gorda as we previously reported?
Nope! Turns out they sold the waterfront property for $200 milli.

It’s safe to say Allegiant’s venture into the hotel industry didn’t quite go as planned, but the new owners plan to turn things around, making Punta Gorda a household name.

Regardless, Punta Gorda makes for an excellent gateway to some of Southwest Florida’s most paradisal beach towns, including Fort Myers.

Though, it’s important to know there are 2 distinct airports receiving new flights:

• Allentown, PA to Ft. Myers (RSW) – 11/13/2025
• Des Moines, IA to Ft. Myers (RSW) – 11/21/2025
• Appleton/Green Bay, WI to Ft. Myers (RSW) – 11/21/2025
• New Orleans, LA to Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers (PGD) – 11/21/2025

Escape The Chilly Midwest With 2 New Florida Beach Flights

We get it. Fall may be a little too far off to begin making plans, but we’re just here to plant the seed and remind you that flights around the holidays tend to skyrocket.

You can’t beat Allegiant’s current fares for the week of Thanksgiving, going from one ‘Fort’ to another with one-way flights starting at just $59.

Fort Wayne, Indiana is the lucky winner for a new flight to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), set to launch November 20.

Known of the South’s “Venice” with over 300 miles of navigable waterways, Fort Lauderdale is a less-packed beach destination than Miami and typically more affordable too.

Launching the same date is another fall escape from the Midwest. Though, fares are about $30 higher for the inaugural flight, it’s still cheap enough to justify an exuberant “Holy Toledo! to celebrate.

The new route departs Toledo to Sarasota (SRQ), a record-breaking beach city home to world-famous Siesta Key and hush-hush islands far removed from the typical tourist trail.

Yet Another New Flight: Gulf Shores’ New Airport Is A Raging Success

If you’ve somehow missed one of the most highly anticipated travel news stories of the year — Gulf Shores, Alabama opened their airport for commercial use for the first time ever last May.

Long story short, it’s been nothing short of a success thanks solely to Allegiant thus far. Maybe they should’ve opened Sunseeker here given all the hype surrounding Gulf Shores’ newly opened Embassy Suites resort…

Anywho, Allegiant is the only airline to serve Gulf Shores (GUF) thus far and new routes keep on comin’.

This time it’s Nashville, one of the trendiest cities in America, but if there’s one thing missing, it’s a paradise beach within driving distance.

Now, Gulf Shores is only a short flight away, and like previously mentioned flights, the rates are almost too good to believe.

Launching November 20, tickets for the initial flight are only $54, followed by even cheaper flights the rest of the week.

World Airlines Award Winner: Allegiant Is America’s Best Budget Airline

Budget airlines take a lot of heat in mainstream news and social media.

Whether it’s the fun police cracking down on bag sizes, heated arguments in the sky, or legroom that wouldn’t fit a garden gnome, it’s always best to know what you’re signing up for when you’re not flying Delta, America, and United, among a handful of others.

That being said, Allegiant is the winner of the World Airline Awards’ Best Low-Cost Airline category for two years running, and happens to be one of my favorite low-cost carriers too (though I wish they had more routes out of San Diego!).

Sunseeker may not have panned out, but the airline has had a remarkable turnaround since 60 Minutes highlighted many shortcomings in 2018.

I’ve traveled to Munich twice with budget top of mind, and each time I found ways to save without sacrificing a single stein.

Munich is famous for beer gardens, nearby fairy-tale castles, and a culture that effortlessly blends the traditional with the modern. But it also has a reputation as one of Germany’s pricier cities. The good news? You don’t need lederhosen-deep pockets to enjoy its charm.

Here’s your guide to doing Munich right—on the cheap, with heart, and a healthy dose of schnitzel.

✈️ Getting There: Cheap Flights & Train Tricks

Flights into Munich International (MUC) can be found for under $500 round-trip from major U.S. cities if you plan smart. That said, I got incredibly lucky and used credit card points to book my flights (this card)—only had to pay the taxes, which came out to around $50. Best $50 I’ve ever spent.

Tips to consider:

• Set Google Flights alerts to track fares and catch dips.
• Consider budget airlines like PLAY or Norse Atlantic with a short layover.
• Trains from nearby cities like Salzburg or Vienna are fast and affordable—sometimes under €20 if booked early on Bahn.de.

👀 Bonus: Munich is super connected. If Germany’s your broader playground, check out the Deutsche Bahn’s regional day passes for group travel savings.

💡 I used the Munich City Pass, which gave me a free train ride from the airport and discounts on multiple attractions. It’s a great all-in-one deal for transportation and sightseeing.

🛏️ Where I Slept: A Hotel in the Heart of the Action

On my trip, I stayed at Buddy Hotel—an affordable, minimalist-style hotel right in the city center. It wasn’t a hostel, but it still felt energetic and accessible. The location was unbeatable: close to the train station, Marienplatz, and the action of Munich’s nightlife. If you’re visiting around the holidays, and your room faces the street and train station, you can even see part of the Christmas market from your window—total bonus.

Another awesome perk? There’s an underground railway entrance right in front of the hotel. You can walk out, head underground to catch a train immediately, or use the tunnels to cross the street without waiting for lights. Down there, you’ll also find a small grocery store—perfect for grabbing cheap beers or wine to enjoy at the hotel before heading out. It’s also clutch for stocking up on breakfast items or snacks so you’re not overspending at touristy cafes.

Other strong options: Wombat’s City Hostel Munich Hauptbahnhof and Euro Youth Hostel if you’re leaning hostel for budget or social vibes.

🍽️ Eating Bavarian Without Going Broke

Munich has hearty food that doesn’t have to hammer your wallet.

Cheap & Cheerful Bites:

• Viktualienmarkt: Grab a bratwurst or Leberkäse sandwich for €4–€6 and picnic in the beer garden.
• Augustiner Bräustuben: Traditional Bavarian meals under €15 and a massive beer hall vibe.

Supermarket Magic:

• Aldi, Lidl, and Rewe City are your best bets for breakfast supplies and picnic kits.

🙌 Pro move: Pre-game with a supermarket beer (€2 or less!) before heading into pricier spots.

🏰 Sights & Stuff That Won’t Cost You Much

Free Highlights:

English Garden: Chill with surfers (yes, on a river wave), stroll past beer gardens, and watch locals picnic in the sun. We saw the surfers in action and followed it up with a stop at the beer garden in the park—absolutely recommend.

• Marienplatz: Catch the Glockenspiel show (11 AM, noon, and 5 PM in summer). On New Year’s Eve, we watched fireworks here after an epic dinner at Hofbräuhaus. The vibe? Electric. There was a live band, massive beers, singing, and we even shared our table with a German couple who were incredibly welcoming. Fireworks were even crazier! They are set off right in the crowd so keep your head on a swivel!
• Churches: Frauenkirche and Asamkirche are stunning and free to enter.

Low-Cost Culture:

• Many museums are just €1 on Sundays, including the Alte Pinakothek.
• Deutsches Museum (€15 full price, but worth it if you’re into science).

🌿 Urban stroll idea: Walk or bike the Isar River path—totally free, and it runs right through the city.

🏰 Worthwhile Day Trip: If you have the time, take a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle. It’s the stuff of fairytale dreams—seriously stunning and perched above the village of Hohenschwangau. The train and bus combo from Munich is straightforward, and you can do it all in a day. Totally worth it!

🥶 Bonus winter perk: I’ve been to Munich twice, and New Year’s in January was a highlight with the crazy fireworks! It’s cold, yes, but the leftover Christmas market stalls are magical. Don’t miss the Glühwein (hot spiced wine)—you’ll thank me.

🚇 Getting Around: Move Like a Local (for Less)

Walkability is Munich’s secret weapon, but when you need transit:

• MVV Day Pass: Good for all U-Bahn, S-Bahn, trams, and buses. Group options for 2-5 people = serious savings.
• Bike Rentals: Tons of stations around the city.
• From the Airport: Skip the taxi. Take the S1 or S8 trains into town (€13.70 single ticket or covered by a day pass—or free with the Munich City Pass).

📅 When to Go: Timing = Savings

When it comes to saving on travel, timing matters. Here’s what I’ve learned:

• January to March: Lowest prices and thinnest crowds, but expect cold and grey skies.
• April to May: Milder temps and blooming gardens, with some lingering rain.
• September to October: Golden light, lively festivals (including Oktoberfest), but prices rise.
• November: Quiet, underrated, and a budget-friendly lead-in to the holidays.

I’ve been in early November and also late December into January, and honestly, New Year’s Eve in January was magical. Cozy dinners, sparkling streets, and a fireworks show right in Marienplatz I will never forget.

💸 Budget Recap: What I Spent Daily

Here’s a look at what I actually spent:

• Flights: $50 (covered with credit card points; just paid taxes)
• Accommodation: Around €70 per night at a budget hotel
• Food & Drink: €20–€30 per day with a mix of meals out and groceries
• Transport: €5 per day on average with MVV passes or the Munich City Pass
• Activities: €0–€5 thanks to free sights, Sunday museum deals, and City Pass discounts

That added up to under €70/day—with plenty of beer and no regrets.

🧠 Quick Tips for Stretching Your Euro Further

• Bring a reusable water bottle (tap water = excellent).
• Check out the Munich City Pass for attraction + transport bundles.
• Book major attractions online if going during high season—some offer early discounts.

Munich might not be the cheapest city in Germany, but with a little knowledge beforehand, it absolutely rewards the thrifty traveler.

Heading to Europe this summer but still haven’t fully planned out your itinerary?

Chances are you’re a bit taken aback by the rising prices, from once-inexpensive Portugal all the way to Croatia, which has long lost its status as the “affordable alternative to Italy.” But there’s still hope for the budget-conscious traveler.

If you love medieval architecture, historic towns that look frozen in time, and most importantly, will not blow your entire budget, then you’ll love Kraków in Poland.

And guess what? If you’re an American, you can even fly there nonstop from two U.S. cities:

One Of The Most Beautiful Medieval Centers In Europe

Though it is Poland’s second-largest city, after the capital, Warsaw, Kraków is, in many ways, the country’s cultural centerpiece.

While many Polish cities were severely damaged by shelling during World War II, Kraków was largely protected from aerial attacks, and its UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Old Town is still one of Europe’s best-preserved.

It is centered around a beautiful Rynek Główny, or Old Town Square, the second-largest in the continent after Prague’s Charles Square, and a most-perfect snapshot into life in the 15th century.

In the center of the square, there is an arcaded Cloth Hall, dating back to the Renaissance era. On the northern corner, the Gothic towers of St. Mary’s Basilica pierce the otherwise even, gable-roofed skyline, and to the south, you’ll find a minor, yet equally stunning St. Adalbert’s Church.

Built in the 11th century, it ranks among the oldest stone churches in all of Poland.

Flanking this idyllic setting, there are historic townhouses with colorful facades, decorated in intricate motifs, cafe terraces with views, and boutique shops occupying dwellings that once belonged to merchants in the Middle Ages.

Castles, Picturesque Historic Quarters & Yummy Food

Away from the Old Town Square, one of Kraków’s most-visited landmarks is Wawel Castle:

Lining the Vistula River, this impressive fortification is like a children’s playground for history lovers and architecture enthusiasts, with its numerous medieval towers, inner courtyards, eerie dungeons, and thousand-year-old cathedral, where Polish monarchs were once coronated.

Visiting the castle grounds is free, but in order to enter the complex, you’ll need to pay an 89 złoty fee, or roughly $23.50.

Over in Kazimierz, Kraków’s Jewish quarter, quirky kosher eateries, post-War renovated synagogues, and vibrant street art await—if we’re talking food, Cheder Café is a local favorite:

Housed in a former synagogue, the 19th century Chevra Ner Tamid, it has a number of Middle Eastern-inspired dishes, including pita with labneh and beef pesto, and their Finjan coffee, enriched with cardamon and brown sugar, is a popular order.

Would you rather grab a takeout zapiekanka to eat alfresco instead?

Swing by Zapiekanki u Endziora, in the heart of Kazimiers, get their crispy Polish baguette with cheese, mushroom and onions ((around $3.75), and make your way towards Planty Park, a green belt surrounding the Old Town.

It’s the best spot for feeling closer to nature without leaving the city, and people-watching as you gorge on Polish street snacks.

World War II Heritage

Lastly, if you’re into museums, then you can’t miss out on Schindler’s Factory Museum:

We’re sure you’re familiar with Schindler’s List, and if you shed a tear or two watching the Spielberg classic, be prepared for yet another heart-wrenching recount of Oskar Schindler’s efforts to save Jewish families during the Holocaust.

Of course, no visit to Kraków is complete without a day trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau, a largely-intact concentration camp established by the Nazi Germans at the height of World War II.

A short one-hour drive from the city, it is now an open-air museum telling devastating tales of Europe’s greatest tragedy.

There are many alternatives traveling from Kraków to Auschwitz, but without question, the most convenient is booking a guided tour, costing from as cheap as $26 per person on GetYourGuide.

Kraków Is The Best Budget City In Europe

As you might have noticed, prices in Kraków are definitely on the cheaper end of the European price scale compared to most Western cities.

Street food and snacks cost around $1.50–$3, and budget meals in casual Old Town eateries star from as low as $10—on that note, you shouldn’t miss out on a traditional ‘milk bar’ experience at Milkbar Tomasza, in the heart of the Old Town.

They’re famous for their meaty soups, generously-filled potato pancakes, and Polish pierogi, and in general, you won’t spend over $6–$9 ordering a main dish here.

It’s no wonder British publication The Independent has listed Kraków as Europe’s best budget city this year.

Fly Direct To Kraków From The U.S.

Perhaps surprisingly to some, you don’t need to resort to connecting flights to get to Kraków (KRK) from the U.S.

Warsaw isn’t the only Polish city to host nonstop Transatlantic flights, after all: Americans can opt instead to fly straight to Poland’s main cultural hub from either Chicago–O’Hare or New York–Newark (only available in the summer months).

Poland’s national carrier LOT is the one airline operating on these routes, with all the relevant information listed below:

Frontier Airlines is offering one-way flights as low as $109 this summer to celebrate the addition of beautiful Aruba to their international network, already including Nassau, Cancun, and Montego Bay, to name a few.

Frontier’s New (And Only) Flight To Aruba

Budget airlines have been all over the map, not just whizzing through the skies. The industry is shifting with traveler-friendly bag policies, modern amenities, and more legroom (if you can swing the upgrade fees).

Despite United’s CEO Scott Kirby predicting the demise of low-cost carriers, Frontier is still going strong and the proof is in the pudding with new routes being launched.

The inaugural flight already took off last week. There’s no word if it’s a seasonal flight, but seems to be on the books through the rest of 2025.

Travelers can depart weekly on Saturdays from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) with a straight shot to Queen Beatrix International Airport in Oranjestad (AUA).

As mentioned, booking now is a steal of a deal. One-way fares are as low as $109, but must be booked by 11:59 pm Eastern time on June 9, 2025.

Blackout dates are:

The Caribbean’s Surging Island! Welcome To Aruba

A few months ago, we covered Aruba’s record-breaking hot streak. The island nation hugging the no-go zones of Venezuela and perhaps the Caribbean’s trendiest vacation spot, Curacao, has been a bright spot for the region as it’s unquestionably safe, largely affordable, and downright gorgeous from the vibrant cityscape of Aruba’s capital, Oranjested, and numerous beaches wrapping the island.

Aruba welcomed over 3 million visitors in 2024 and shows no signs of slowing down this year, especially since it’s welcoming new flights.

Beaches couldn’t be prettier here, and that’s obviously one of the main draws. There’s no place like Flamingo Beach, where you guessed it…is the beach home to about a dozen flamingos wandering the coast, but you will need an access pass as the beach is privately owned.

Beyond Aruba’s most unique beach, you’ll find other stunners like Baby Beach and Arashi Beach; both equally great for snorkeling in crystal-clear waters.

While airfare is certainly the most affordable factor when traveling to Aruba, grand stays and down-home inns won’t typically break the bank either unless you’re insistent on 5-star luxury.

Take the Caribbean Palm Village Resort, for example. You can score a tropical stay for only $94 per night in July.

Prefer something cozy? Check out Wonders – Boutique Hotel Aruba for a dollar more at $95 per night.

Arubans are known for their welcoming hospitality, so don’t shy away from a laundry list of homey bed & breakfast stays either.
